Which instruments are in a string quartet?

A string quartet consists of two violins, a viola and a cello. There is also the option of hiring an electric string quartet. Consisting of electric versions of the classical instruments with a funky design and more of a contemporary and futuristic look. Halo Strings also offers LED string quartet with lights that can be personalised matching your event or logo. 

What is the difference between the string quartet, trio and duo?

We also provide string duo and string trio options for events in smaller spaces or with lower budgets. The main difference is in the volume and density of sound.

Which parts of the wedding ceremony will a string quartet play at?

When hiring Halo Strings for your wedding ceremony, you’ll have music during the following parts of the ceremony:

Pre-ceremony music

Music whilst guests arrive, usually 15-30 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony.

Ceremony music

Music for the bridal procession

Music during the signing of the register

Music as you and your partner leave the ceremony room

We often play at the drinks reception as well as wedding breakfast/dinner.

Can we move from one room to another?

We are very happy to move between rooms at your event. For example, moving from the wedding ceremony through to the drinks reception.

Can Halo Strings play outdoors?

Halo Strings can play outdoors. We will only require some shade to play under to protect our instruments from direct sunlight. For any outdoor ceremonies, we must have adequate cover to protect our instruments from any inclement weather.

How much space does a string quartet need?

Approximately 2m x 3m. It is preferable that we are on a flat surface with adequate light. 

What requirements do you have regarding space and equipment?

We need 4 armless chairs. It is also helpful to have a power socket close to us and a place where we are able to leave our cases during our performance.

Do I need to provide food?

We kindly ask that soft drinks will be available for the musician during the break(s). For bookings, up to 3 hours or more, food (freshly made sandwiches or hot food) should be also provided.

How many breaks do you take?

We like to play as continuously as possible. We normally do sets of 50 min with 10 min break. We always provide background music played through our sound system during our breaks to give you and your guests uninterrupted background music.

How do we choose the music we would like?

Halo Strings have a vast selection of music that spans most genres from classical, jazz and pop. We will be more than happy to play all your music requests. We normally organise the playlist 4 weeks before the event, but we are happy to take any last-minute music requests. Read our blog about our top wedding songs to walk down the aisle.

What dress code can I expect from Halo Strings?

Black elegant dress is the standard dress code for us when providing wedding entertainment. However, we have a vast selection of outfits to match your summer wedding or a particular theme. eg. Flamboyant colourful dresses or sparkling party outfit.

We also provide traditional dress for Asian weddings and modest dresses for Jewish ceremonies.

When will you arrive at my event?

We always arrive an hour before our start time. This allows us plenty of time to set up and discuss any last-minute queries with the venue.

What happens if I have to postpone?

Your deposit would be transferable to a new date if your wedding or event had to be postponed because of COVID-19 restrictions. 

Will you follow social distancing rules?

We will always follow social distancing guidelines set out by the government and by the venues.

Is Halo Strings insured?

Halo Strings musicians are all members of the MU and we all have public liability insurance to £10,000,000. Also, all our equipment is PAT tested.
